It's Time to Learn

At the West Island Learning Center (WILC), we highlight the importance of early math exposure for children. Our mission to develop joyful, resilient, lifelong learners inspires everything we do. We welcome children of all school ages and their families to make up our vibrant, diverse community.
WILC’s focus on developmental, play-based early education guides how our students learn and our thive in our communities.

Personalized attention

Tutoring is beneficial as it provides personalized attention to the child, which is not always possible in a classroom setting. Tutoring allows the child to learn at their own pace and fill in any gaps in their understanding that they may have missed during regular classes.

Boost Confidence

Tutoring boosts confidence in many ways by providing individual support, overcoming challenges, and improving academic performance, which builds a sense of accomplishment and high self-esteem

Additional materials

Our tutoring center provides additional resources and materials that are not available in traditional school environments. These resources can help the child to better understand difficult concepts and develop new skills.

Student Testimonials

Useful tips for parents

As a parent, you have a huge influence over your child’s learning.

Reading

Compared to processing images or speech, reading is more challenging as parts of our brain are making connections. When we read, we are also required to construct and imagine.

Rethink IQ

A study was done where elementary school teachers told a group of randomly selected students they were smart. by the end of the school year, the children who were told they were ‘smart’ by the teachers gained a higher average IQ score than the rest of their classmates

Puzzles

Puzzles, blocks, memory games, crafts, toys figurines – these are tools every child should grow up with. Give your children ample time and space to play with these tools when they are in preschool.

Praise

Praise is most effective when it is focused on the process and commitment, not the end result. Your child’s learning process and effort should be the main emphasis of your praise.

Solving

To think abstractly, reason and identify patterns, solve problems and discern relationships without using your prior knowledge – this is known as fluid intelligence. Generally, we use our fluid intelligence when we encounter a new situation.

Real Learning

Real learning is active. Real learning is emotional. Real learning is continous.
